Master Quantum Devices

The physics of quantum devices and materials represents a key field of contemporary physics, which includes theoretical and experimental studies aimed at using quantum systems for innovative applications.

This new approach, combined with major advances in the field of micro- and nano-technologies, makes it possible to exploit quantum principles to develop new methods of calculation, communication and information transmission. In addition, the study of original electronic and photonic devices and the exploration of the electronic and structural properties of new materials represent essential aspects of the scientific background of a young physicist expert in the quantum properties of matter. All that is based on the foundations of quantum mechanics, which have made it possible to develop the concept of quantum computer, the theory of quantum information and communication, quantum optics and photonics, quantum electronics, semiconductor and superconductor nanostructures. The Master in Quantum Devices fits into this context with the aim of creating a figure of expert physicist in quantum technologies, highly interdisciplinary, capable of understanding the theoretical concepts underlying new technologies and new quantum materials and at the same time of knowing the physical systems necessary for their implementation. Students receive excellent preparation for current research, allowing them to become high-level physicists capable of implementing innovative ideas.

The Master Quantum Devices is accredited by the University Paris Cité in partnership with the École Polytechnique and in a double degree agreement with the Denis Diderot School of Engineering (EIDD). It is also an integral part of the International Master’s program ‘Nanotechnologies and Quantum Devices‘ in partnership with the Politecnico di Torino (Italy).

The training is in line with the objectives of the Plan Quantique launched in January 2020 and the European Quantum Flagship project, founded in 2018 by the European Commission, aimed at coordinating initiatives related to quantum technologies in the fields of training, research and innovation at the European level.

In a spirit of maximum openness, the training is based on the scientific excellence of theachers from the Île de France laboratories concerned with the physics of quantum devices and offers a large number of opportunities in booming fields. Young graduates students, with both a fundamental and applied profile, will be able to easily integrate into the world of academic or industrial research around quantum technologies and materials by taking advantage of an experience that will have put them in contact with the main actors in the field.
